Message for the feast of Saint Marcellin Champagnat
This year’s message of the Superior General for the feast of Saint Marcellin Champagnat on June 6 centres around the celebration of the Fourvière Year and the Jubilee Year of Mercy. “Champagnat and his young priest friends dreamt of a Church with a Marian face, that is to say, with a profound heart of mercy,” underscores Brother Emili Turú. “They dreamt of a Christian community that would have mercy as the basis of their life and mission.”
26 Belgians and 9 Dutch on a pilgrimage to the Hermitage
In the week of the Feast of Ascension two groups of Brothers and lay people travelled to the Hermitage; one group was from Belgium, the other from the Netherlands.
Marist Student Leadership Programme has been launched
The Marist Student Leadership Programme has recently been launched in Irish Marist Schools by Marist Education West-Central Europe. This exciting new programme encourages young people to develop their leadership skills in order to support fellow students and to benefit the wider community.

Pentecost meeting at Cham: “Mercy – what is that?”
Two weeks before the Feast of Pentecost the 2016 Pentecost meeting took place at the Marist School, Cham. It was attended by present pupils of the school at Cham and former students from the association of “Friends of the Marist School, Cham” (F.M.C.) as well as guests. The preparations for this meeting were once again in the hands of a committed group of the F.M.C. while the spiritual input was the responsibility of Johann Staudner, R.E. teacher at the school.
Meeting of the European Vocations Team
A meeting of the European Marist Commission for the Pastoral Care of Young People and Vocations was held in Barcelona on the 19th and 20th April. Brother Tony Leon from Rome (Brothers Today Secretariat) was also present for the meeting.
Meeting in Freising of the “Brothers and Laity” Commission
The meeting of this European Commission took place from Friday 1st April till Sunday 3rd April at the Cardinal Döpfner Diocesan Centre on the Cathedral Hill at Freising.

The annual Province pilgrimage to L’Hermitage
In March this year, a group of twenty-four staff and teachers from projects and schools across the Province took part in the annual Province Pilgrimage to L’Hermitage. Here as Marists we have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of our founder Marcellin Champagnat in his home-place in France.

A tandem journey into the future
The 6th Provincial Chapter took place in Freising, Germany from March 28th – 1st April. It was attended by Marist Brothers and lay people, whom we can perhaps now collectively call, “New Marists”, from across the Province. Other guests included Brother Emili Turú, Superior General, Brother João Carlos do Prado, Director of Mission Secretariat, Brother Ernesto Sánchez, General Councillor in Rome, and Brother Gabriel Villa-Real Tapias from the L’Hermitage Province. In all they were a vibrant, energetic and representative group of Marists.
Marcellin through the eyes of Marist students
Second year students in Marian College Dublin are the winners of the Marist Education Art Competition which had been organised to invite students of our Marist-linked schools in the Province to “tell our Marist story with your colours!”
