Two Marist Brothers from India visit Scotland

It is now eight years since staff and students from Lawside Academy (now St. Paul`s Academy) in Dundee initiated “The India Village Project”. The project supports the work of the Marist Brothers in Mangamanuthu, India. As well as St. Marcellin`s High School in Mangamanuthu, the schools in Scotland support the Rainbow project which provides help for people who have AIDS / HIV. The project has developed to include provision of housing for local people. Read more »

Moria Foundation celebrates 20th anniversary

The Moria Foundation in Nijmegen, which provides after-care to young men after they leave prison, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. As part of the celebration Moria`s Board and staff wanted to reflect with other people on their experiences over the past twenty years with the participants in the programme. And so a conference was held on November 13th at the villa that houses the project. The theme of the conference was, “Finding a balance between freedom and rules.”  Read more »

Spirituality and vocation


Province workshop at Freising

On the weekend of All Saints, the Marists from our Province came together in a fraternal atmosphere at Freising (Bavaria) for a workshop on the theme: “The Spirituality and the Vocation of Marists”. Under the very learned leadership of Brother Tony Leon from Australia and Bernice Reintjens from the Netherlands we were invited to listen to some presentations to help us focus on the differing ways to pray. Germany


Marist Centenary in Germany 1914 – 2014

The chapel of the community in Furth was packed when, on the 11th October, the celebration of 100 years of Marist presence in Germany began. After the solemn Mass the beautiful weather allowed for a toast in the garden, which was followed by the official part of the celebration in the assembly hall with various speeches and musical intermezzos. A festive Bavarian buffet, supplemented with Bavarian beer, brought the successful jubilee celebration to an end. Read more »

Inauguration of a new project for young people

Amid great interest the official opening of the “House To Be” in Nijmegen took place on the 4th October. Religious compassion is at the foundation of this project which offers boys aged 12 to 17 from the same area a place where they can take a break from their own lives. The project is an initiative of two congregations, the Marist Brothers and the Dominican Sisters of Neerbosch. Read more »

Marist Centenary in Germany 1914 – 2014

The year 1914 is the foundation of the Marists in Germany. The jubilee that we celebrate this year brings together many friends: Marist Brothers, Lay Marists, co-workers and young people with whom they have been connected over the century both at home and abroad are united in this celebration. It is a jubilee which not only is a day of remembrance for the Brothers and their friends but one which offers the opportunity to take a glimpse into the history of the Marists in Germany. It also invites us to renew our awareness of the mission of the Marists both today and in the future. Read more »

Assembly of German Brothers

The German Brothers gathered in Furth on Saturday 13th September to discuss the present situation in Germany as well as the future mission. This was the first such meeting of the German Brothers and almost all the Brothers attended, including those from mission lands. Read more »

Retreat for European Brothers

At the end of July a European Marist Retreat took place in Valladolid, Spain. The retreat was for Brothers between 45 and 65 years of age. Read more »
