Launch of Mission Council: A New Beginning in West-Central Europe

The official launch of the newly formed Mission Council in West Central Europe, took place June 2nd and 3rd in Annecy, France. The Mission Council was set up as a result of recommendations from the Provincial Chapter in April 2016, to develop new structures to facilitate Marist mission in the Province.

The Mission Council, comprising of Brothers and lay people, will take responsibility for the promotion and development of mission in the Province and will be the focal point for communication within and across the Province, and at European and Congregational levels. As a Province we already have good relationships with many parts of the Marist world, and we hope to develop these relationships in the years to come.

At the launch this weekend the members met to set out clear roles for working together and supporting the work of the Director of Marist Mission, in each country in the Province. They discussed ways to inspire the Marist community in the Province through facilitating the exchange of ideas, experiences and resources for Mission in the way of Mary.

Provincial Brendan Geary attended the launch to officially give delegated authority regarding leadership and animation of mission in the Province of West-Central Europe to the Mission Council.

The first Mission Council members are as follows:

The Council members are very excited to work with all our schools, projects and initiatives in the Province and to develop new and existing links with our Marist communities in Europe and internationally.
