End of the school year
The Champagnat Fête at the Marist College in Mindelheim
The fête, organised at the end of the school year, began with a Eucharistic celebration attended by a large turnout of family and friends.
This year, the emphasis was on sport, in its various forms. Visitors were able to watch different competitions, demonstrations and dances in our five large gyms, while other competitions took place outdoors in the sports complex.
A display showed the history of the Marist Brothers and their rationale in today’s world. A slideshow, recalling the journey of Brother Michael Schmalzl throughout the Marist world, highlighted the international dimension of a congregation which is established in 82 countries. Some young people from the group « Cmi Mindelheim » ( fixed-term voluntary service in a Marist project) shared their experiences in South Africa, Kenya, Samoa, Argentina and Mexico.
The puppet theatre and the magic shows were particularly enjoyed by the younger children and their parents. A group of parents had undertaken to organise an enjoyable coffee break for visitors and many took the opportunity to try some of the 120 or so tarts and cakes provided by family and friends. There was a collection for a specific Marist project and this raised a very considerable sum.
It was a great day of togetherness in a school en fête.
